The Uruguayan has most certainly surpassed his heyday, but he has regained some of the scintillating form that he once possessed when at Atletico Madrid, and this weekend for Diego Forlán showcased one of the goals of his career for his Brazilian side Internacional.
After a mundane season-long stint at Inter Milan, the former Manchester United striker jumped ship and moved to Brazil in an attempt at getting back into the swing of things. He only managed to bag 2 goals in 20 appearances during his time in Italy, while in stark contrast to that abysmal record he has managed to notch up a respectable 11 goals in 25 appearances for his relatively-new Brazilian outfit.
Known for his lethal goal-scoring prowess back in his prime, Forlán has also kept his devastating two-footed ability with him at all times, a trait which only a handful of the world’s top players possess.
This goal is nothing less than a ‘panini sculpture’ of a goal as one Ray Hudson once said, and the commentators in this clip are barely able to contain their excitement at seeing a scorching strike from the Uruguay international.
Take a bow son. What a hit.
