Champions League winner Djimi Traore is now plying his trade in the MLS with Seattle Sounders, and the defender scored an absolutely magisterial goal in last night’s CONCACAF fixture between Seattle and Mexican side Tigres. It is the first time in the South American Champions League history that an MLS side have come out on top against a Mexican outfit.
The goal scored by the former Liverpool defender had the whole stadium rocking, and it was as good a strike as you’ll see all year long.
The commentator makes the video even more watchable as he is clearly in awe of what he has just seen, and he barely manages to keep a lid on his emotions as Sounders go 2-1 ahead just before the hour mark thanks to the Malian.
If only he could’ve done this at Liverpool, where he had a relatively mixed tenure at the English club. Suffice to say, he will never be forgotten for his memorable goal-line clearance at Istanbul in 2005.
